Welcome!
Minimize

Thank you for a GREAT COSMOS Twlight Camp!  We hope you enjoyed it!

Registration for Next Year - The following grade level guidelines must be followed:

Girl Scouts of Western Ohio is following GSUSA’s new grade level distinctions and that they need to be followed when registering new or returning troops.

Girl Scout Daisies:                              Grades K-1
Girl Scout Brownies:                           Grades 2-3
Girl Scout Juniors:                               Grades 4-5
Girl Scout Cadettes:                            Grades 6-8
Girl Scout Seniors:                              Grades 9-10
Girl Scout Ambassadors:                 Grades 11-12
Also,  PLEASE NOTE: Effective immediately, the date for troop bridging is now June 1st. As a result, if your troop is bridging to a new grade level, the leader and co-leader will be required to take the appropriate Grade Level Leadership Essentials training within six months following the June 1st deadline. Please update your Volunteer Resource Guide accordingly.

The two required trainings are:
1. Girl Scout Fundamentals (Orientation to Girl Scouts of Western Ohio)
2. Appropriate Job Training or Grade Level Leadership Essentials – If you are a Girl Scout troop leader, you will need to complete the appropriate grade level training  (everything you need to know to effectively facilitate the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.) If you are a service team volunteer, product sale volunteer, etc. you will need to complete the appropriate job training for your volunteer role.

On that note, if you chose to keep your troop at a different level than the above guidelines for this year, Council is recognizing that you are at the above levels anyway (this is different than what we were all told last year).  SOOOO, you need to complete the next level training! For instance, you have a 6th grade troop and chose to keep them at Junior level and not Cadette level, Council is recognizing you at the Cadette level anyway, not Junior.  I just received a list of all of the "non-compliant" leaders and this "new" rule is what is causing the problem.  You need to complete the next level of training immediately or chance that you will get a letter from Council telling you that you are ineligible to be a leader (yes, even with 2 months left in the school year!).  If you have any questions, please contact Martha Barbary at Council  (If you are unsure if you are eligible/ineligible, let me know and I can look at the list) - you should also be getting e-mails from Martha that has more information on this.

Training
It is never too late to get your training completed!  We have many leaders that are close to being ineligible due to not getting the training completed - you will not be able to register your troop until the training is up-to-date!  You can easily do many of the training requirements on-line (
http://www.girlscoutsofwesternohio.org/Volunteers/GradeLevel.htm   ) Click on the training that you need and go from there!  All of the books are on-line and you can glance back at them if you need to find the answers.

Julia Poe - or new training coordinator - is working on getting our CPR certification set up to complete in August (for under $10!) - more information as soon as we confirm the dates!
