Key Dates May 5th - Last day of registration Friday, by 10PM ET May 6th - Car drop off Sunday, 1-6PM ET May 11th - Car drop off Friday, 4-8PM ET
*Weight & Measurement* In order to expedite check-in on the day of the event, there will be two pre-check in dates where you can drop off your car for weight and measurement at which time your car will be sequestered and brought to the event for you. This also helps prevent any car from being disqualified the day of competition. Cars that are checked in early and don’t meet the size/weight requirements will be permitted to be redesigned and resubmitted.
*General Rules* - Each Scout must be supervised by a parent or adult leader at all times. - A scout can enter multiple cars if they wish. The cost for each extra car is $5. Girls with multiple cars are only eligible to win one speed award. - Extra kits will be available for a cost of $5 if you need a replacement kit. - Cars submitted the day of the race that do not meet the size and weight requirements will not race but will still be eligible for the design and creativity awards. - It is highly recommended that you submit your car to verify weight and measurement before the day of the race. - If the car loses a wheel, or is otherwise damaged, the racer shall have 5 minutes to make repairs. - Any individual exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct will not be permitted to race and asked to leave.
*Prizes* Trophies will be awarded for the fastest average time of 4 races in each program level (Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, & Ambassadors). Trophies will also be awarded for top 3 fastest average times across all levels. Girls will only be eligible to win in one speed category.If the car loses a wheel or is otherwise damaged, the racer shall have 5 minutes to make repairs. Awards will also be given for creativity and design. (Number of awards are based on the number of participants.)
*Food* There will be food available for purchase at the event.
COSMOS Wood Car Derby is an event designed to give girls a fun and competitive environment through which they learning problem-solving skills and how to work with their hands.
